The Academy of Engineering Sciences, Singapore (AESS) is actively seeking candidates to be elected as Fellows of the Academy.
Nomination Criteria
Candidates must be nominated jointly by two existing Fellows of the Academy.
Nominees should have one or more of the following:
Made impactful contributions to engineering practice, research, and/or education; or
Demonstrated outstanding entrepreneurship and leadership; or
Created innovations that have been successfully translated into practice; or
Shown leadership in the management and professional development of the engineering profession, educational institutions, or research organisations.
These accomplishments should be recognized at national or international level. Examples include, but are not limited to:
Serving on high-level technical committees, statutory boards, or professional societies at the national level;
Serving on international scientific or advisory committees, or as a judge at major scientific and academic events;
Contributions that have brought significant international visibility to their field or to Singapore’s engineering community.
AESS also welcomes nominations of promising mid-career and early-career engineers who are expected to make major contributions in the years ahead.
Fellowship Process
Nominations are invited annually, with the typical cycle as follows:
March: Call for nominations opens.
July: Nominations close.
August–November: Evaluation and discussion by the Academy.
End of the year: The list of newly elected Fellows is approved and publicly announced.
To be considered in a given year, complete nomination documents must be received between March and July. Nominations received after the July deadline will normally be carried forward to the following year’s assessment.
Successful candidates will be notified individually by the Academy Secretariat following the year-end decision, and will be formally introduced as Fellows at the next appropriate Academy event.
To submit a nomination, the two proposing Fellows should complete the official nomination form and submit it, together with the candidate’s detailed CV and supporting documentation, to the Academy Secretariat in accordance with the current nomination guidelines.
